Neill Blomkamp talks Halo promos, film's demise

Would-be director of the now thoroughly deceased Halo movie, Neill Blomkamp, recently spoke to Creativity Online about his work on the trio of live-action videos that preceded the launch of the third game in the series -- and really, did we even have to hyperlink that? Blomkamp made it clear that the clips are completely separate entities and shouldn't be seen as replacement nor attempted resurrection for the film. "In essence, those pieces have zero to do with the film," he said. "Like less than zero."

Not even forgotten movie props made it into the viral videos, as Blomkamp explains that "the design and everything that we'd made for the film is just locked up in some locker somewhere." Of course, "locker" is likely a euphemism for the coffin that now holds the "entirely dead" film. "Whatever happens with that movie, assuming that movie gets made, will be a totally different configuration. It's not so much me as the entire vessel sank." Despite the lack of optimism, the South African born director admits he's still curious as to what might happen in the future. You'd think a guy involved in Halo's marketing would, you know, "believe."

I personally enjoyed all three films. I thought they captured the essence of the Halo universe. Frantic fights, mass production of weapons, etc. etc.
After doing $300 million in 7 days how can they not create a movie?

That's too bad but if the Halo movie ever comes to realize I hope the director is Peter Jackson but this guy is very good. One would think with the current lack of writers and good scripts a Halo movie would be well a no brainer.

Peter Jackson sounds good, but James Cameron sounds better for an action film. The guy's a genius at keeping the pace and mood of a frantic action film. If only he had directed Transformers.

Yeah, Peter Jackson is more of a storyteller, so unless the film takes place during the events before and a little after the fall of Reach, I'd go for Mr. Cameron.

I hope its Peter Jackson. I just don't want Uwe Boll to direct and ruin the Halo movie. How did Halo not get made into a movie and this guy still making video game movies that absolutly suck.

I have never seen a Uwe boll movie maybe I'm lucky or simply I don't remember but if it is as bad as you say I hope he doesn't get his hands on halo now someone that would be as bad would be Sam Raimi, the guy suck balls in more than one way.He screwed the X-men 3,Spiderman 3 and Superman Returns movies.

I mean as a fan of Spiderman 1 and 2 were brilliant but 3 sucked WTF with Venom that was one hell of a cheap finish, is freaking Venom dude you can’t get rid of venom that quick also what the bloody buggery with the Black suit, in the cartoon and in the comics the Black suit makes Spiderman stronger here it seems it only make him a total dick.

Anyway I say Peter Jackson for the way he directed the Two Towers and Return of the King, the army scenes were awesome if not mind blowing.

BTW is James Cameron working in something, I haven’t seen a James Cameron movie in years. hey something that pop up suddenly what about Steven Spielberg or George Lucas?
