DIY Weighted Companion Cube costume

It starts out with a foam core cube, modifies plans from a papercraft found on 4chan, and finishes with a liberal application of metal spay paint and six foam core discs to form a friend guaranteed not to stab you. It's rather amazing the culture that has sprung up over a virtual, inanimate object. If anyone has the schematics for a model portal gun, we'll be happy to drop our current costume plans and run around our respective downtown establishments in an orange jumpsuit and aforementioned accessories, blasting Jonathan Coulton from a portable stereo.

I'm always amazed at how much outright praise Portal gets. Don't get me wrong, I do believe it was an amazing game and will pave the way for future expansions. Also the comedy was pure gold. But for me, the ease in which I was able to conquer the game (beat it, along will all advanced maps in less than 4 hours) makes it rather disappointing. The game was simply too short to be as stellar as others make it out to be.
Oh and Frank, just do yourself a favor and buy Orange Box. It's well worth its current price and I doubt it'll come down anytime soon.

I don't know about the rest of y'all but I have got some serious issues with portal. Basically the problem is that I would love to enjoy everything else on the damn disc but portal some how manages to pull my attention away from the rest. As simple as a game it may be, it is very addicting and I can't stop playing it. And to think the main reason why I even bought the orange box was to play team fortress 2.

My girlfriend and I built a companion cube from a bunch of 24" uhaul boxes and she quite cleverly designed a portal gun out of nesquick containers, milk jugs, glowsticks, a fuel line and a toy gun. :D

Nicely done. It shows how popular the Companion Cube has been in these days. Hell, Portal hasn't even reached a month since it came out and WCC has become a very popular character. Valve really knows what characters they create!

Sir, you are by far, the biggest idiot who has ever posted on this blog. I've already played Portal at my local gamestore, and I have to say it's amazing. WCC has that unique best friend forever feeling that makes you want to have it on real life(and I've only played the first three rooms and half of the fourth). That is why this character has gained popularity among the whole gaming world and the Interwebs.
If you hate WCC or don't even care about him, you deserve to eat potasium and drink water right away, because someone like you who doesn't appreciate simple things doesn't deserve to exist.

It was a block... i used it to jump up a ledge, and to block a energy ball... Am i supposed to feel attachment to it cause it had a heart on it? or cause the annoying voice told me not to? Oh and i was able to dispose of my faithful companion cube quicker than any other test subject, so there.

It is NOT JUST a Cube!
SPOILER:
In future updates of Portal you will learn that test subject who survive the test chamber in a vegetative state are converted into weighted companion cubes.
So if you hear delirious voices coming out of the Cube it is NOT a hallucination, even though that's what GLaDOS would rather have you believe.
How this will be demonstrated in future updates is yet to be decided. (unless the idea is scrapped)
