Halo 3: Landfall - all three Blomkamp shorts cut together
One thing we noticed as the film progresses is the improved quality between each of the three shorts. Of course, the next logical thought would be what Blomkamp could do with another Halo video, or perhaps even a film. Alas, it just wasn't meant to be.

The second two, especially the third, really make the first look like shit.

this looks awesome, kinda michael mannish on the directing. the only part that looked silly was the purple ship (don't know the name) dropping off two brutes

Dont you ever compare Michael Mann to this steaming pile of shit. Mann has visual style and a great use of color. These shorts were awful. Camera effects and poor cg to cover the wretched "acting" Whats with the "target acquired" dialouge from the wounded guy? If Jay Sherman where here he would agree...IT STINKS! acham....

Not bad, but I can see why the movie was a no go. They are well done, but they seem less like a movie than a documentary or an advertisement based on the style. A movie needs more than just action, it needs characters, and this just seemed like we followed a random squad through a battle. Well done, just not the right style for a movie.

I think the movie could work.. the games do, and while the viewer/player involvement would certainly be different in a movie, I think the overall Halo story is compelling enough that a decent film could be made.
Before anyone cries fanboy, I've only played through Halo on PC (didn't really like the gameplay), and have only played Halo 3 on-line a little bit.

It seems that if movies are being made out of Transformers and Voltron then there is no way somthing with such mass appeal (to people who like to spend money on entertainment) could get passed up
Mike-453 @ Oct 31st 2007 11:25AM
It's best not to think of it as a movie of Bungie's game, but a movie of Eric Nylunds novels, yea, much better.
