Whoops! Tesco sells Xbox 360s for £33.24
Sky News reports that once the payment is accepted, Trading Standards rules in the UK state that the retailer must comply and deliver the product. Numerous payments were accepted for the drastically-reduced Xbox 360 bundle, which also includes Forza Motorsport 2 and Viva Piñata. One crafty consumer successfully ordered 39 consoles, although no orders have yet been delivered.
Despite the rules set forth by Trading Standards, Tesco's site maintains that they do not have to conform to erroneously-marked prices unless they fail to notice before shipment. We'll wait and see if any lucky gamers get their cheapo 360s in the mail. Think anyone sprung for overnight shipping?

Even more hilarious is that the ad displays the consumer STILL saving money on the console set, despite the erroneously displayed cost. ;)

Humm, there is a get out clause in the Trading Standards rule where if it's obviously an error, they don't have to honor the deal. It's a grey area, but they might send a few orders out of good will (Tesco is a huge company. To give you some idea how big, it beats Walmart over here in the UK by miles) but I'll bet they tell the guy that ordered 39 of them to sit and spin.

This is the second time this has happened. Before, it was a pricing error at the time they offered a full refund on any item bought that was mis-priced on the shelf. Apparently they forgot to check the till and shelf prices didnt match up on electronic goods.
Still, they make a loss on all game related goods anyway, so I guess they're used to it

I few friends of mine noticed it and ordered one but if they'll get it or not I don't know.
Hell, I'd even have got an xbox for that price. They ought it to sell cause they already had 1 but I guess it'd be good value as long as there was warranty on it because after that you go into no mans land of RROD.

I'll wager ten cents that there is an exception for clerical errors, or that acceptance is not complete merely upon entering a credit card number online.

Leading UK retailer Tesco is refusing to deliver thousands of Xbox 360's that were ordered through their online department which were priced accidentally at £33.24. The error happened after Virgin offered a similar deal for £35, but this was said to be some kind of clever ploy to catch out Tesco's price checking software.

I think you'll find this item DOES NOT include the console! The 'Wireless Entertainment Pack' is just the 2 games and the controller as far as i can tell (still a great deal). The picture is misleading though.
A quick google uk product search shows various stores with it (though, everyone seems to have it at a different price, with different things included)

Hum - just saw the sky news picture where it actually states its a console included.
The 'Wireless Entertainment Pack' though, as a SKU, does seem to exist separately, and has similar contents, just without the console :P
Though, its definately odd. HMV.com offer it for £114.99. But say it only includes a controller and forza 2 (which is at least double the price it should be for that). Odd.

Myself and all my colleagues at my office ordered one each but they emailed us the next day to say that it was an error and they had cancelled all the orders.

this was an online only deal so no money is taken before the item is dispatched, and as Tesco terms and conditions state that no contract exists between the store and the customer until the item is dispatched all orders were canceled and customers were sent an email of the pricing error. no orders were dispatched. This was an error by the supplier and effected other stores such as Woolworths.

I can confirm that it didnt go ahead ... i work in a games company and a big bunch of us were right on the ball with it. But we got an email Friday evening saying they had to cancel the orders. Oh well! Worth a try!
