Brash to make game based on Jumper

Way back in the summer we told you about Brash Entertainment, a studio that was going to focus on game adaptations of movies. They sounded pretty edgy at the the time, especially considering they were adapting box-office smash/murder porn Saw at the time. But first, the publisher has to get some more time-sensitive games out of the way like Alvin and The Chipmunks and, we've learned today, Jumper. Collision Studios (300: March to Glory) is developing Playstation 2 and Wii versions of the film coming this February, while RedTribe (Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal) handles the Xbox 360. Wait, two different studios? That's got to be better than one, right?

We're guessing that the question on your mind isn't "How true will they stay to the film?" but rather "What the hell is Jumper?" We've watched the trailer, and as far as we can tell, it's a movie about Hayden Christensen teleporting around while Samuel L. Jackson tries to keep Hayden Christensen from teleporting around. So ... yeah, expect a game somewhere between Crash Bandicoot and awful.

In a similar misunderstanding, I was hoping for a game based on the warm fuzzy overgarment.

Maybe you should stick to game critiques, Joystiq. It's been pretty much agreed amongst the film community that Jumper has good potential. Unlike many other comic based movies that are derived from older eras, Jumper is more aligned with how comics are today.

Do some research before you "jump" on something you don't know about.

TOTALLY agree... I saw the trailer the other night in front of American Gangster and this movie looks interesting, with flashes of potential greatness. It could get tangled up in it's own rules of 'teleporting' and get stupid, but it's a great concept and I'm looking forward to it.

Reminds me of a time I went to see a movie, and a trailer for a little film called the 'Matrix' came on right after the trailer for "13th Floor" came on and people in the theater laughed and said things like "looks just like the 13th Floor movie." Point being, you can't always tell. "Matrix" is probably some of those same people's favorite film now. "Jumper" could be awesome.

Or we could be talking about the next "13th Floor" too, I won't deny that possibility.

Speaking of jumping to post, Daniel, "Jumper" is based on a novel, not a comic book. I agree with your main point, though, that "Jumper" might actually be good; the novel was enjoyable in a teen-reader sort of way.

Awwww. Thats disappointing. I thought they were going to make a prequel to Super Mario Bros. I'm all disappointed now. Donkey Kong would have looked great in 3d with the levels of CGI that can be made now.

the source material in question is, i believe, The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester. it's a fantastic read by a somewhat overlooked but wonderful classic sci-fi writer.

some people also know the book as Tiger! Tiger!, which, i think, was what it was called when it was serialized in the pulp sci-fi mags.

either way, the trailer for the movie looks great.
