Zero Punctuation hates Jericho

This week on Zero Punctuation, Yahtzee travels back to the time when our game selection was much slimmer and hates on Clive Barker's Jericho. It's worth noting that even a month later the spread on reviews for Jericho is still quite impressive. Yahtzee complains about the colors, design and just the overall product that has rekindled his hatred after weeks of ho-hum blood lust. Let's see if The Escapist can stop sending Yahtzee games by carrier pigeon to Australia and get him some games from the deluge we currently find ourselves in.

"Zero Punctuation hates Jericho"
Who doesn't? Seriously, I couldn't even finish the demo.
FidliousWong @ Nov 14th 2007 5:57PM
Actually, I liked the demo. It had issues, to be certain. Which is why I'll buy this game when it's $20 and not $60.
Corey @ Nov 14th 2007 10:36PM
Yeah, there are demos that you like and then buy the game, and then there are demos that you like but know you wouldn't like the game if you bought it. Jericho is the latter.
Silent Xenocide @ Nov 14th 2007 5:39PM
Jericho? What's that?
arrrgh @ Nov 14th 2007 5:40PM
well it sucks ass so it makes sense
mr mobius @ Nov 14th 2007 5:47PM
No idea what Jericho is and frankly I couldn't care, but Yahtzee just has a brilliantly British sense of humour which rips the game into twenty pieces, each as brown and castle like as the other.
Shagittarius @ Nov 14th 2007 5:52PM
I didn't find this game as bad as most of the reviews or especially as Yahtzee.
Most reviews complain about how linear the game is, which to me not everything needs to be a sandbox or even have the illusion of being an open game.
The other complaint is the graphics which I didn't mind at all, I thought they were good...I wonder what settings some of hese reviewrs were using.
Its not an great game but its not awful either. For some reason some people just hate it. Its a lot like Lair in that respect.
Akamaru @ Nov 15th 2007 9:37AM
Sorry dude but Lair was way better than Jericho.
Sam @ Nov 14th 2007 6:06PM
Yahtzee is right 100% of the time, all the time.
I'm fairly certain he's stealing my thoughts and opinions.
Anyone that disagree's with him is one of the following:
1) An idiot.
2) 15 Years or younger.
3) A mindless fanboy.
4) A blatant brit hater.
Seriously. Dont hate him just because he points out the obviously flaws in obvious games.
Oh, and jericho was fucking terrible.
Mr Khan @ Nov 14th 2007 6:08PM
He can be a bit blunt and tends to oversimplify
But that helps his humor as much as it hurts any attempt at "legitimacy"
manguy @ Nov 14th 2007 6:25PM
his way of reviewing a game is really literal..unlike compared to average gamign review sites. he abosolutly pisses himself mad when something is nto fleshed out or is unreasonable.(see 3:32)
foeaminute @ Nov 15th 2007 6:23AM
"Dont hate him just because he points out the obviously flaws in obvious games."
May I point out the obviously flaws in this obvious sentence?
SugarDaddy @ Nov 15th 2007 9:25AM
Anyone who says "if you disagree with [insert person]'s opinion you are an an idiot" is an idiot themselves. That being said, regardless of whether or not I agree with Yahtzee, I think he's hilarious 100% of the time.
After all, if everyone had the same opinion, then this would indeed be a boring world. Shades of gray, my friend. Shades of gray...
Mr Khan @ Nov 14th 2007 6:14PM
This one has to be one of the best he's done
"Stick their nose up their urethra"
Priceless
Vigi @ Nov 15th 2007 12:46AM
I hereby nominate Yahtzee for an honourary degree in analogy making.
Deozaan @ Nov 14th 2007 6:24PM
Yeah yeah, every week the headline from Joystiq is "Zero Punctuation Hates (on) [insert game here]"
We already know the review is going to be negative. That's why we like it, but please try to remember a little bit of that creative writing class you took that one time when coming up with a headline for the news article.
aristokrat @ Nov 14th 2007 6:29PM
Apparently even he thought that the game gets "pretty awesome for a few minutes at the part when you have to fight a fat guy with a mangina." That alone makes me wonder about this game, but since GameFly finally shipped me GH3, I think my gaming needs for the next little bit will be satisfied.
NvM @ Nov 14th 2007 6:41PM
haha that was funny.
More interested his thoughts on Mario or Guitar Hero though....
Glamador @ Nov 14th 2007 6:45PM
While I don't always agree with what yahtzee says I always love the way he says it. Keep up the good work I say to no-one in particular.
rikimaru @ Nov 14th 2007 6:55PM
Ugh this game.. I played the demo for about a minute before I had to stop. I just couldn't handle what a horrible waste it felt like.
AK @ Nov 14th 2007 7:05PM
Yeah well, I hate Zero Punctuation for talking way to fast. I couldn't take more than 20 seconds into his review before turning it off.
Slow the fuck down.
How's that for a review? Mind you, I'm not sticking up for Jericho (never played it), I'm just giving my review, on his review, of a game review.
Someone should make a review site, for game reviews.
You wouldn't be rating the game, just the game review...
Cutty @ Nov 14th 2007 7:24PM
I think you've missed the point here, AK.
Silver R. Wolfe @ Nov 14th 2007 7:44PM
Yeah, you fell off the convoy. Now find 46 friends and become one of the best rifles in history!

When you drink too much, and think too much...
They can't all be winners.
SugarDaddy @ Nov 15th 2007 9:34AM
You pretty much just confirmed your 'moron' status. Why don't you create your "review of reviews" site and call it "Lots of punctuation." Make it nice and slow so that retards can understand it. I'm sure it will be very popular when you turn a 4 minute beautifully concise and hilarious review into a 10 minute mind-numbingly boring criticism of someone else's review. Put a disclaimer that "you must have a IQ less than 60 to enter this site."
Apreche @ Nov 14th 2007 9:47PM
So far ZP has never failed to perfectly agree with my taste, and he has never failed to entertain. He's about a step away from being the #1 VG reviewer along with Gabe+Tycho.
rDr4g0n @ Nov 15th 2007 9:04AM
The demo was bad in one way, but the game was horrible in many others. The biggest flaw i think is that the teams "skills" are just so unintuitive. They just dont make sense. The controls are needlessly complex as well.
Lord Chako @ Nov 15th 2007 8:01PM
I better burn my college degree, and start working at wendy's. Some jackass on the internet called me a moron, so it has to be true.
Look shithead, I was just giving my drunken opinion.
Like I said, when you're drunk sometimes things sound better in your head, than they do on paper.
I wanted to delete the post after I posted it, but I couldn't. We all have bad posts, but there is no reason to attack me personally.
You know what's ironic? In this exact same post you typed.
"Anyone who says "if you disagree with [insert person]'s opinion you are an an idiot" is an idiot themselves."
You disagreed with my opinion on Zero Punctuation, and called me a moron.
So what does that make you?
