So we're not sure what to tell you about this supposed clip of the recently-announcedGhostbusters game from Dutch site Game1. It looks really good to us, but so did the Zootfly version we saw a few months ago, and that turned out to be a side project some company was putting together for laughs, so it's hard to say. Speaking of which, this video has a similarity to those first YouTube clips we saw of the Zootfly game, though this is way more polished.
So, we present the above video to you as is, with no guarantees as to its authenticity, other than logic and our own gut instinct. Of course, it would probably be easier to tell what was going on if, you know, the whole thing wasn't in Dutch. Side note: If you want to see something that we know is official, check out this teaser for the game.
Video seems to be working ok. I Don't speak dutch but I heard "Zootfly" and "gears of War" - I think it's acknowledging that Zootfly were working on GB as a side project using the gears engine, this is almost definitely using a different engine if Sierra have the liscense.
Again, zootfly's ghostbusters game has evolved into a new project. It's called TimeO. It will be mostly the same of what we saw in their ghostbusters video, but with any ghostbusters stuff taken out that they could get in trouble for, such as the car and logos etc. I believe the beam guns are still in though, but won't be used for ghosts.
It's almost weekend and most of us are mostly finished with games, that is until sierra/vivendi announces the new ghost busters game.
[movie scenes]
Person: Youri its Friday, the end of the week, weekend is inbound Youri: Yes Person: You'll probably want to go on untill 6/7 then on your way home. But then vivendi and sierra announce a game which makes me and you quite enthusiastic Youri: It really makes me happy, they have a ghost busters game. it really is a high-profile ghost busters game, one I have been waiting for. Developer zootfly already made us interested a while back with some sort of tech demo with the ghost busters, it looked real good had a good engine behind it but they didn't have a license. I think that's the reason why we didn't hear from them. Then sierra thought, hey we can do that too, could be a good idea. Person: Now we don't know if there is a ghost busters movie on its way Youri: I suspect not because i recognise a lot from the first movie, especially that scene with slimer where slimer needs to get caught in a real expensive hotel where they blow everything up to smithereens because the creature keeps outrunning them. you see that returning. I also saw other things like marshmallow man walking through the streets. you see that too in these screens but a bit different. where you hang from a rope. Person: Yes that is quite different. Youri:What we do know is that Bill Murray and the rest of the team are working closely together with the creators for scriptwriting purposes and to have them completely integrated in the game. if you look at the screens we have showing now, new screens [1:32] it looks fantastic , the detail is incredible, just look at the weapons on their back. Its brightly coloured, the way it should be. It isn't your ordinary grey action movie, it's your action comedy movie with many one liners. It looks like the game captured the atmosphere rather well. Person: Well it's planned for end of 2008 Youri: on all the platforms, Person:almost also on the commodore 64 Youri: It was a close call Person: it will be on playstation 2 and will be an action game like Luigi's mansion, gears of war. Youri: Yea something like that. And I hope there will be an awesome coop mode because the ghost busters are a team. and should be played with 2, hopefully 4 players. Person: we were assured new info would be announced soon. Youri: this will be a game I'll be looking forward too; Person: it will, now lets celebrate the weekend. Youri: Let's have beers
Seriously, do you guys just scan Kotaku all day long and cut and paste their stories on your site? Everything that appears on Kotaku shows up here almost verbatim roughly 1-24 hours later. It's embarassing.
I really thought Zoofly's video was neat. I liked the way it was set up, lighting and everything. Even if it was just a reskinned Gears.
Speaking of which, if anyone has a link to that video, that works, I'd love to go rewatch it.
But, as for this new video.. I dunno. Sure, it looks nice, or atleast the Ghostbuster does, but everything else... not so much. I know it's no where near final, I just hope they polish it up a helluva lot.
I loves me some Ghostbusters. Always have, always will. I just hope the game doesn't get fucked.
I seem to recall, about a year ago, there was this leaked footage of a shooter game that had some dude shooting what looked like one of those ectoplasm shooter thingamajigs that the Ghostbusters used. It may well have been on Joystiq. People were speculating weather or not a Ghostbusters game was in the works.
Hearing from the translation in the comments above:
"Bill Murray and the rest of the team are working closely together with the creators for scriptwriting purposes and to have them completely integrated in the game"
nearly made me cry tears of joy. Ermmmm I'm not kidding. This game is looking to be my childhood dream come true. Yes I wanted to be a Ghostbuster!! I had the toy proton pack and trap. Good times :)
It's very important they can the comedy banter in the dialog right. It's what makes the characters entertaining to watch, even in the animated series (I hope the Wii gets that version too).

WiNG @ Nov 16th 2007 12:44PM
It's obviously a translation of the Dutch guy's comments in the video.
WiNG @ Nov 16th 2007 12:12PM
Looks pretty good. Hopefully the Wii version, if truly developed seperately, won't suck ass. Nunchuck trap throw ftw.
Also there doesn't appear to be any kind of health gauge, so I guess you are probably on a timer or... just need to reduce property damage, lol.
Also I thought this was a continuation of the story, not a remake. Why are we fighting Stay Puft and Slimer?
