Rock Band's satiric backlash begins

Rock Band was bound to get the satiric backlash soon, because any game with this much hype has to. And if the writer's strike wasn't going on The Daily Show or Colbert Report would have probably done it by now -- but with those shows on extended hiatus, we'll have to accept Matt Downham's take.

Coming from a place of love, Downham tells his Rock Band tale. At first we thought he was some cub guerrilla marketing guy, but as the video goes on it's all about one fan's obsession and expectation turning to disappointment -- and rage.

I've still yet to play this. My brother has my 360, and I won't get it back until tomorrow. =C

You know, it's funny but true all at the same time. The fervor gamers feel for the game is all well and good right now, but wait until all your non-gamer friends are over playing the game.

Then you're stuck with an expensive Fisher-Price collection. Thank god for that drum bag.

I don't know about the hype for the game, but I know from experience with GHIII that you don't get good at it right away. For those who don't play instruments, it takes awhile to get used to it and start enjoying playing it.

If anyone feels like this guy does, they should just keep at it and forget about the delusion that this makes you an instant rock star.
