Today in Joystiq: November 27, 2007
Consider this a public service announcement: when looking for a place to keep your drumsticks in between Rock Band sessions, consider using the two plastic hooks that just out of the blue and yellow pads (highlighted); they conveniently and securely hold two (2) drumsticks betwixt their plastic arms. You should never need to hold the sticks as shown above unless you're planning to break two pairs mid-song and will need a 5th and 6th spare. Check out the highlights for today:

It took me until just now to figure out that you have to pull them STRAIGHT OUT.
god I'm so stupid.

What the hell?
Someone bought the PS3 version of Rock Band?
Yuccadude @ Nov 28th 2007 12:16AM
Even if his comment is directed at yours, I found it both witty and insightful. I didn't even check to see if it had the old X on the kit, nice catch.
ColossalHat @ Nov 28th 2007 1:48AM
Hell, I've got a PS3 and am not going to buy the PS3 version of Rock Band, unless they make the controllers from that and GH3 play nice for the other game. I don't know wtf they were thinking when they did that.
why not the LS2/LS7? @ Nov 28th 2007 12:01PM
Yeah. Lots of people bought the PS3 version. I try to buy games that are equally good on both platforms on the PS3 because my 360 has been broken 1 month out of the year for the last two years. I don't like paying for games and then not being able to play them for a month.
I don't like that it says "works with most guitar controllers" on the front of the PS3 game but yet it only works with the Rock Band controller. I do know Activision isn't exactly cooperating with Harmonix to get the controllers working.
Yuccadude @ Nov 28th 2007 12:09AM
Mine eyes have been opened to the glory that is Rock Band. Thanks to you Joystiq, I may now be able to turn my television up to 11.

I'll assume this comment was directed at mine above
Which it probably was

Where the hell is the Xbox Guide button..?
LunarAura @ Nov 28th 2007 12:55AM
Anyone else think the pic should have the sticks where they SHOULD be as opposed to how it is now, where they SHOULDN'T be?
sqwarlock @ Nov 28th 2007 1:07AM
I'm so very guilty of this. It wasn't until seeing a friends kit with them in the proper position this weekend that I realized those "hooks" even pulled out.
I feel ashamed, and yet happy that I'm not the only one to put the sticks where they are in the photo.

For all the hype of this game; it didn't really sell that well for either system the first week.......
Stores have tons of them...
ColossalHat @ Nov 28th 2007 3:14AM
It may have something to do with the hefty price tag for the full (-1 guitar) experience. It also has had less publicity than GH3, is a new IP, and has EA's bad rap for crappy ports behind it.
Just remember, "EA Ports, it's in the game. That you bought last year."
burgerbat @ Nov 28th 2007 11:31AM
Really? Where I live, there's no chance of finding rock band at stores. Even Best Buy online won't let you check for instore pickup, because it's fucking sold out everywhere. I had to settle for just the game without the instruments.
booticon @ Nov 28th 2007 9:01AM
Glad I'm not the only one that didn't know about those hookthings. I didn't think about it until I saw an Engadget gallery.
/facepalm
ClackyJ @ Nov 28th 2007 11:08AM
Isn't that picture missing an "om nom nom nom"?
Geist @ Nov 28th 2007 11:39AM
You're right, and for that I hate you.
Christopher7xii @ Nov 28th 2007 11:32AM
Hell, when playing this at best buy - after I pick them up from the hook things, I still put them back in the center hole. Just kind of works I think.
Joe Smith @ Nov 28th 2007 11:52AM
Um - thanks. I hate to admit it, but I had no idea those hooks were there until now. OK --- I feel dumb -- sigh. Damn I'm depressed.
Nate @ Nov 28th 2007 12:54PM
Luckily my girlfriend pointed out those hooks when I was looking for a place to put my sticks.... I saw them when I was unpacking the thing but didn't realize they pulled out. I guess I should have actually read the instructions :)
And I think it's clear the PS3 version of Rock Band is superior, since there is no XBox Guide button to accidentally hit while playing. Plus it comes with a wireless guitar. Plus no USB hub needed (for all but the new 40gig PS3). Plus, evidently the 360 guitar is teh suck.
Christopher7xii @ Nov 28th 2007 2:40PM
With the exception of on Xbox360 you don't have to purchase 2 copies of rock band in order to have 4 players =) One of your options for controller 4 / guitar 2 on Xbox is also wireless. Crazy!
baby sea tuna @ Nov 28th 2007 2:02PM
And all this time I thought the hooks were for the cord. Huh...
