Rock Band almost gets dude evicted
As Argent, KISS and Wyld Stallyns have all reminded us at various points in history, the Man Upstairs passed rock down through the ages and heavens for you to enjoy. But you'd be wise to keep in mind that though God gave rock 'n' roll to you, your landlord can still take your apartment away. It was something almost forgotten by a junior rocker that goes by "luminary pants" (not his real name) on the official Rock Band forums. It seems that LP's neighbors took none too kindly to his mid-afternoon rocking with the game and, as a result, his landlord delivered an eviction notice. Luckily, cooler (in the James Dean sense) heads prevailed and the guys were able to keep their pad when they showed their landlord that they weren't playing at an unreasonable volume. Wow, discussing a conflict peacefully with an authority figure and then coming to an amicable solution! How much more rock 'n' roll can you get?!

They didn't gun everyone down? I guess they weren't gamers.
eugene @ Nov 30th 2007 10:51AM
I'm sure Dr. Phil will have a special show explaining how this gamer didn't grow up to be a murder.
Zach S @ Nov 30th 2007 9:55PM
Hahah, that's sorta funny, since the last time I saw Dr. Phil talking about video games, he said that obviously not everybody who plays games are gonna be violent and that parents are responsible for keeping a check on their kids' game purchases. I don't like Dr. Phil really at all, since usually I think he's really wrong and obnoxious, but in this case, I'd have to agree with both of those statements.

That's a little nerdy.

I swear to god, I've seen this article somewhere else on the Joystiq network.

Complaints over Rocking at 2am: Perhaps there's a problem
Complaints over Rocking at 2pm: Neighbors are asshats.

He may have moved in to the same building where I used to live, where I was told by the landlord that the people that lived below me, wanted me to stop walking around my apartment so much... when I got home from work... at 6 pm.

Good call on the pic, guys.

The cops came to my apartment last Friday at 8pm. I was playing at the same volume I play all other games, though, so I was a bit surprised. I just got off with a warning. They said "If we have to come back, you'll get a ticket." My neighbors are such pussies. I can hear them yelling at their kids at all hours, but do I call child protective services on them? Actually, that's not a bad idea!
Synner @ Nov 30th 2007 12:25PM
I'd call the cops EVERY time, tell them it sounds like they are abusing their kids. It would be awesome.
StrangeBum @ Nov 30th 2007 11:21AM
Alright. I'm not one to normally complain about continuous coverage over one topic. But come on, the day just started and three posts about Rock Band already.
Give me a break. I like the game and this story is fairly amusing, but I don't need anymore Rock Band. I've been banded out now.
Farseer (GDI) @ Nov 30th 2007 4:40PM
I've got a novel approach for you - if you don't like Rock Band posts, then don't read them.
You'd be surprised how little effect a brand has on you when you ignore it.
StrangeBum @ Nov 30th 2007 4:42PM
It's not that I don't like the post. It was rather amusing. I just find it a little strange that three posts pertaining to one game come out in a matter of a very few hours.
They could save all of the stories from each day and just do one 'Super' post or something instead.
Farseer (GDI) @ Nov 30th 2007 4:49PM
If you notice, though, all three posts were by different authors. Had it been one dude writing only about Rock Band, I would probably agree with you.
Give it time - how many Bioshock and Halo 3 related posts (and comics) did you see for weeks after their respective releases?
StrangeBum @ Nov 30th 2007 7:52PM
Oh, trust me, I know. But you made a good point about the separate authors. Funny how so few games get so much coverage, yet there are so many other games out there just as deserving.
Oh well, I'm not a journalist, so I wouldn't really know how to order the importance of such small issues.

"Wow, discussing a conflict peacefully with an authority figure and then coming to an amicable solution! How much more rock 'n' roll can you get?!"
"How about if you change "What I got you got to get and put it in you" to "What I got you got to get it's hugs and kisses"?
"Yeah! That way rockers of all ages can enjoy our songs!"
...or something.
But yeah, "mid-afternoon" rocking? What a bunch of jerk neighbors.
gonk @ Nov 30th 2007 11:25AM
ever heard "slide it in"? great song :)

Well, at least we know what the hardware manufacturers would have to do for Rock Band 2.

You do have to fight for your right to partaaaaaay.
Chrysee @ Nov 30th 2007 2:15PM
I hope no one in our building is bothered by it. The drums do make an awful lot of noise though.
Yubastard @ Nov 30th 2007 11:36PM

Better question: How much more American can you get?!

This is exactly why I rent a house rather than an apartment. Rock Band at 4AM FTW.
