Turok clips show off multiplayer

It's difficult to watch these recently released multiplayer clips of Turok and be completely satisfied. Sure, what's here looks solid, but the one key omission is so glaringly obvious, we're not even going to mention it. ... What, don't you see it? It's the only thing we can see: None of the players are dinosaurs.

It's a fact that playing as a dinosaur is considered by many experts to be the raddest thing you can do in a video game, short of skydiving into a dynamite factory. In our younger years, we went so far as the pick up the Genesis version of Jurassic Park just so we could experience the thrill of playing as a velociraptor. It's been nearly 15 years since then, and our thirst to rend human flesh with our razor-like teeth and talons still has yet to be slaked. Come on, Touchstone Studios, just think about it. The opportunity is lying right there, like a golden ... thing, just waiting to be picked up and pawned. ... Or is that pwned?

Maybe its because I am not a fully engrossed shooter drooler, but it doesn't look that great to me. I mean, looks a bit unique as you play against other players as well as random dinosaurs attempting to kill you but... meh. Seems like many of them (shooters)just start blending together as the same damn thing.

Though, playing as a T-REX would be ultimate savagery!

there is a t-rex, i read it a few months ago, confirmed by teamxbox. check out the article, it is a dev interview with a lot of cool stuff about the multiplayer and how the maps are all non-static.

That dude just can't aim... even I'm far better aiming with a pad than that and I'm no where near the skill of the top players on consoles.

To me, this actually looks pretty solid. I'd never buy a Turok game for the multiplayer, but it's always an added bonus.

Can't wait to pwn some dinosaur bitches, though.

Seems like there are too many grenade and rocket type weapons and fighting off the dinosaurs looks like more of a hastle than a real threat (hammer on the triggers for face stabbing action?), I mean the guy was low on health and it still didn't kill him.

It looks decent, like a poor man's Gears of War.
Those knife kills did look cool, but with my luck I would be the one at the receiving end. :(

Didn't Turok 2 let u play as a dinosaur? N in Conker u play as one too! But yea the look of the game looks like a budget title...

for me, the last nail in the coffin for turok >1 was that arrows did not arc. seeing that they do in this iteration renewed my hope in the series for some reason

wow, i see no reason to play this over COD 4 or any of the other trillion online FPS games. It looks like the developers made this while under the effects of too much "meh". Also looks terribly unbalanced, why does every weapon have to explode for 1 hit kills?

The only reason nobody is playing as a dinosaur is because you have to level-up to unlock it. I am betting that you have to be a level 13 paladin with a 3x multiplier..oh wait...damn. Wrong form of geekdom.

Oh right, I forgot, there have been absolutely no advances in first-person shooters since Wolfenstein 3-D. Thanks for cleverly pointing out how stupid we all are for still trying to support a genre that's obviously been dead for 20 years! I guess Nintendo should stop making Mario games because everyone knows that nobody will ever make a platformer better than Jumpman for the Commodore 64, right?

Anybody else think the weapons look decidedly unspectacular? The old Turok games had some kick ass weapons (cerebral bore, razor wind) but these look generic by comparison.

Indeed. Where's the cerebral bore, all the different exotic green and blue weapons with different strange effects, and the axe? Everything looks so fucking generic right down to making the player a fucking marine or something. EVERY GODDAMN FPS OUT THERE ALREADY HAS MARINES, TUROK HAS INDIANS YOU FUCKS!!! Or at least futuristic mad-max looking types. None of this mindnumbingly boring realistic soldier crap that we've seen way way way too many times.

Here's a scenario that I've been playing in my head ever since this game got announced:

I'm playing multiplayer. I'm having a shootout with this random player and he's about to kill me. Out of fucking nowhere, a fucking T-Rex comes out,grabs the enemy player and rips him into pieces. That would be so full of win, I would literally shed manly tears if I saw it.

and the trex is controlled by another player (who is having the time of his life)

maybe they could make it where there are 2 human teams, and after 5 deaths you respawn on the dino team

that'd be a fun mode

The only thing better than that is having a T-rex laser pointer.

Instead of summoning a missile carpeting sequence, or targeting a hugeass laser from a satellite, you call T-rexes to rampage that spot.

From that point on, the only thing better than that is a grenade loaded with T-rex pheromones.
