Iron Man's new trailer looks unexpectedly awesome

We know, we know, it's just a video clip. And yes, we know that we've been burned by sexy trailers for mediocre licensed games before. But this new trailer for Iron Man (shown during last night's Spike VGAs) is just so freaking good, we're finding it hard to keep our cynical composure.

How about when Iron Man throws a fighter jet, or when it grabs a missile and redirects it? How about the original gray armor? Awesome. Everything here is. There is one thing that troubles us though: At one point, Tony Stark flies through a ring. If it's a stylish move, all's well, but if Iron Man's going to get into some Superman 64 shenannigans, things are going to get hectic.

Well once you get past the eye-candy and whatever fanboy ties you have to Iron Man you'll start to realize it's gonna be all flair and no substance.

Notice all the repeated animations, even in that trailer they are so overly used you'll start to think there is only 10 different motions Iron Man goes through.

The stopping air animation and walking while firing animation stand out the most in my mind from watching the trailer last night. Wasn't even paying that close of attention most of the time.

I hope I'm wrong about it, would love an awesome Iron Man game. Hopefully it achieves atleast a Crackdown quality and will have to if they want me to spend my hard-earned cash on it.

Yah, but at least graphics make the game attractive enough so it catches your attention...but then again, there are exceptions like the utterly beautiful Okami... =(

Graphics quality wise, I read somewhere that they are basically using the in-movie CGI for the IronMan model. And apparently the rest of the models while still looking alright, will be squandered compared to him.

Other than graphics, the gameplay actually looks decent as well. Maybe they wised up a bit and are doing it more Spiderman 2 (the third game was crap) or Hulk: Ultimate Destruction (not exactly movie based, but whatever).

Looks pretty good -- but I wonder about the play mechanics. It is hard ot see fomr that vid how he is getting into the situations that look so cool. And some of the animations around the object interactions look pretty spotty too. Maybe we'll finally get a great superhero game tied to a movie... but I am not holding my breath.

I like the new direction of Iron Man. He was so lame.

About the game well Marvel games aren’t that bad I say it could be a solid 7.5 all around.

Yeah, but remember how lame Captain America up until a couple of years ago (Ultimates, 1602, New Avengers)? The best thing about comics is how much a new writer can do to completely revitalize a character/franchise.

As for this game, I hope it'll be good. As for the movie itself, I'm reasonably sure that it's going to be fucking awesome.

Comics have a lot of writers unlike anime where a single dude starts with a good idea and then throws it away like half season later and starts copying Dragon ball Z

That’s why comics are always so good; they have a lot of writers each of them with great ideas. I only have time for the essentials lately I hope I get someday Marvel Zombies VS the Army of Darkness Hardcover.

I also want to see the movie, as long as it isn’t directed by Sami (Which is a miserable bastard since he ruined Spiderman 3 and the Xmen not to mention Stuperrman reruns)thumps up.I loved FF2.

Someone should make a game of the Flash, where you play the whole thing against slow motion enemies, but when the level is over you can rewatch it in regular speed, seeing yourself as an insane blur.

Indeed. I was playing the hell out of that up until the week in November when, like, all the good games dropped. I'll definitely pick it up again when I'm done with Galaxy, Mass Effect, Assassin's, Uncharted, Orange Box, and R&C. So, maybe like February...

Yes, I second this sentiment, thats one of the best non-GTA "sandbox" games I've ever played. It could get a bit repetitive, but if you take that same basic gameplay and add decent flight controls to go along with obviously spiffy graphics, Iron Man might just fail to suck.

Iron Man is one of my favorite heroes. Not sure about the game, some of it looks cool, some of it reminds me of the Superman :( If its like Hulk UD then it will be very cool. The flying aspect of Iron Man needs to be right on otherwise this isnt going to be good.
