Big changes coming to Call of Duty 4 this month

It seems that more spots on our Friends list are devoted to people playing Call of Duty 4 than anything else, lately. Despite the e-success, the team at Infinity Ward is still tweaking the experience, evidenced by a bevy of changes that will be coming to the online portion of the game sometime this month.

The changes are split between two groups: playlist and patch changes. The playlist changes are numerous, and really help to balance and perfect the online experience. Maps are being added to rotations, new playlist variations are being introduced, and some rules are being changed. As for the patch, there's an awful lot of network optimization, the addition of host migration (your party doesn't get booted if the host takes off) and, perhaps most importantly of all, Kill Cam view has been added to everything: claymores, RPGs, grenades, even fracking Air Strike Bombs ("follows bomb from plane to target" ... oh yes).

The only thing we don't like about this updates? There's no ETA outside of the "month of December." Hit that 'Read' link for the full breakdown and start counting down the days.

hopefully less domination for ground war

also not losing the unlocked camo in prestige mode would be nice, i won't bother doing prestige unless they fix that

Just wait till COD adds Vehicles. Goodbye every and all FPS! Halo is already garbage at this point. There map pack was short of anything worth the wait and there next one will revisit old levels. Yeah live in the past but lets keep it Modern with our warfare.

Is COD4's online play really better than Halo 3's? I keep hearing that but with all of the badass games recently released COD4 was pushed back on my priority list. I'm starting to wonder if I should have skipped Mass Effect (for now) instead.

i have all 3 of those

halo is simple fragfest fun, cod4 is more tactical, and the unlockable stuff is awesome. i haven't played halo3 in a couple months, cod4 is too awesome

I blew all of the money I can spend on myself until after Christmas on Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Galaxy, R&CF, and Uncharted. After how insanely COD4 has exploded onto the scene I feel like I should have sacrificed one of the others instead.

Yes it is, but they need to do away with the kill cam, and not extend it's reach.. or atleast take it away when you get sniped. The sniper rifle is the one gun that it should be A'Ok to "camp" with, and Kill cam ruins that.

But yes, COD4 kicks Halo 3's face in.

That sucks but the smiley faces of family on Christmas will be be worth it.

I personally had to pick 2 games from Assassin's Creed, Orange Box, Mass Effect or Call of Duty. I went with the Orange Box and Call of Duty.

Yeah, I've got a 3 year-old little girl who's in love with Dora the Exploder(SNL humor). I already got her the talking house 'ultimate' package and a crapload of accessory add-ons. I still need to hook up my Mom and Dad as well as my Sister and Niece, plush some more stuff for my little girl. Point is it will bring me greater joy treating my family than I would get treating myself. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

As for the changes: I like the 'host migration' addition, it really helped Halo, I think. It sucks when someone leaves unexpectedly or shuts down a good group of people by leaving... Conversely, I've felt guilty sometimes when I host and I have to leave. Now I'll know the war can carry on without me. Nice add, Infinity Ward. I hope this becomes standard on all multiplayer online.

They need to fix the damn server browser and release the mod tools on the PC.

Also, in the November game sales charts there aren't any numbers for the PC version sales.

tho u say COD4 is more tactical? emmm not sure about that HALO3 can be as well...
I also find alot more good players play halo

But COD4 is well fun =)

Yea, its random. You can back out most times. However, sometimes they pull you in during a match. Then you get penalized for quitting, so you have to play them.

I hope the fix for the sniper accuracy is in relation to the fact that you can shoot an idle enemy in the head multiple times across the map without it killing them.

i was wondering if i was the only person having this same problem. i have an easier time using the m16 or g3 with red dot scope from across the map. the sniper just doesnt seem worth it.

Alternatively, you can learn to snipe. Which gun are you using? If it's anything but the M40A3 (below level 49) or "the fiddy cal" (49 or above), ur doin it rong.

while i like to play team by myself, and usually wind up on top of the list, i find that the average player is better off with a party.

while it sucks when your faced up against an entire team thats a party and is well organized, it sucks even more when your entire team is a bunch of lemmings that run out into the middle of the field time and time again and only getting 3 kills because they used martyrdom.

I hope the fix to the ACOG scope removes the sway, or allows you to hold your breath. It's utterly pointless on Sniper rifles, and on the M14 the sway makes it easier to stick to the red dot sight, which doesnt move at all.

I don't like that they removed Team Objective as I enjoyed playing various game types with the same people.
