Well, perhaps the song selection will make more sense to you than the headline. Still not content with the initial track list in
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Activision has revealed the contents of the rock 'n rhythmer's next set of downloadable content (but not the price, so no accusing them of pitching a con-tent just yet). Right, on to the content:
The Warner/Reprise Track Pack (master recordings)
Single song downloads (courtesy of "popular European bands")
"Free, exclusive rock rendition" of a holiday classic
- "We Three Kings" by Steve Ouimette
In fitting with
tradition, you can expect the Warner/Reprise/Wrist Slasher Special track pack to cost $6.25 when it appears on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network sometime in December. We'll let you know as soon we've confirmed the prices of the individual songs.

In the end would have been so much better
mmxzero @ Dec 14th 2007 9:00PM
No... but still they could have picked something a lot better (rocked harder) from either Meteora or Hybrid Theory :(
Kyera @ Dec 14th 2007 8:51PM
I'm still waiting for some Legends of Rock.
jynxycat @ Dec 15th 2007 11:25AM
No offense, but Mastodon > you.
Sora267 @ Dec 15th 2007 2:29PM
In Soviet Russia...No wait, Mastadon STLL > you.
Isagani @ Dec 14th 2007 8:55PM
After all the crap with blocking the Rock Band patch, Activision can forget about any DLC money from me. BOYCOTT!
gonk @ Dec 14th 2007 10:52PM
and gh3 downloads still aren't cheaper to compete with rock band prices
also all of these new songs suck
Kaemon @ Dec 14th 2007 9:07PM
Who in the world are these people, the only ones I recognize is Linkin Park, and that really not something special.
Shagittarius @ Dec 15th 2007 1:07AM
Its like they don't care anymore...
jynxycat @ Dec 15th 2007 11:25AM
Mastodon is pretty huge in the world of metal.
It's not their fault that all you know is what you see on MTV.
Kaemon @ Dec 15th 2007 12:02PM
Whoa whoa, don't lump me in with MTV. I've never even watched a show on that channel... seriously. The music I listen to is whatever music I find that I think sounds good. And obviously I know why I haven't heard of them, because I don't like metal.
But I don't listen to whats popular. I listen to what sounds good, which is why I have music of almost any genre, and many languages.
tyetheczar @ Dec 17th 2007 2:11PM
If you want the good stuff, oy, get an account on imeem.com. It's the youtube of music.
tmacairjordan87 @ Dec 14th 2007 9:23PM
so guitar hero 3, this is what you have to answer rock band's metallica pack among others? i'd say you fail but that'd be too obvious
better luck next time at picking bands/songs that dont blow ass.
Jason Montgomery @ Dec 14th 2007 9:32PM
Maybe they could've gotten something from the Christmas album that Twisted Sister released a year ago for the free holiday track.
On my heavy metal Christmas my true love gave to me,
12 silver crosses
11 black mascaras
10 pairs of platforms
9 tattered t-shirts
8 pentagrams
7 leather jackets
6 cans of hairspray
5 skull earrings
4 quarts of Jack
3 studded belts
2 pairs of spandex pants
and a tattoo of Ozzy!
Blue_Falcon @ Dec 14th 2007 9:32PM
I'm not one to usually promote the presence that MTV has in the world, but what I will say that it's apparent that they've used their influence on the game. Rock Band has, without a doubt, the better DLC compared to Guitar Hero II/III. Quality, quantity, pricing, options.
I literally haven't looked at anything from the GHII/III camp of downloads and show any interest at all.
Rhandos @ Dec 14th 2007 9:43PM
Thank you for putting "popular European bands" in quotation marks.
Ranus Studios @ Dec 14th 2007 9:50PM
This would be a lot more appealing if the Mastadon song had been "Cut You Up With A Linoleum Knife."
gonk @ Dec 14th 2007 10:57PM
hell yeah
Otis Whitaker @ Dec 15th 2007 9:02AM
Totally thinking the same thing.

ZapBranigan @ Dec 14th 2007 11:02PM
Mastodon fuckin rocks. This song is a little easier to digest than their typical stuff, but still great. Should be an interesting song on GH.
Too bad you've got to buy Linkin Park and The Used to get it.
Joe @ Dec 14th 2007 11:39PM
God. The Used, Linkin Park and Mastodon?
I can completely understand why Activision won't pass that patch; people won't play GH3 at all.
Trashman @ Dec 15th 2007 12:28AM
Screw you guys. The Used is a good band. LP is decent and i have been wanting to play some of their new stuff. i do agree they need to release some old stuff like The Police, Styx, Pink Floyd, Metallica and bands like that, but this is good too. I would probably die if they released come Sail Away even though you would be siting there doing nothing for like 3 minutes
Trashman @ Dec 15th 2007 12:31AM
and the whole patch issue with the ps3, the ps3 just sucks. face the fact.
Gavin @ Dec 15th 2007 12:35AM
Sooooooo glad I went with Rock Band over GHIII.
So damn glad...
Trashman @ Dec 15th 2007 12:47AM
im gettin GH III for xmas and rock band tomorrow. finally caved and decided to get it. i was planing on just getting the game and the mic that logitech is offering cause im going to have 2 guitars and could just wait to buy the drums
Helloimbob @ Dec 15th 2007 5:09AM
At least you had the choice... no rock band in the UK yet... :(
Lee Cary @ Dec 15th 2007 12:43AM
Who the hell at activision picked these songs? Legends of rock my a$$ I'm just going to buy Rock Band and bask in the great song selection and download content they have. At least someone over there knows what a good song is.
Trashman @ Dec 15th 2007 12:48AM
what i believe they should do is offer songs from past games
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Dec 15th 2007 1:52AM
Why didn't they use any of songs from Linkin Parks older album? Faint, Hit the Floor or In The End would have been good choices.
ryan @ Dec 15th 2007 1:54AM
lol most of these songs suck although that video for the song emten was wir, was quite entertaining lol
bounchfx @ Dec 15th 2007 9:14AM
are you fucking kidding me? why can't I buy Mastodon alone? I don't want Lincoln Park or the Used
this is another terrible decision. first GH2 pack comes out with Maylene and we can't buy that alone, plus it's on freaking GH2... then we get Mastodon on GH3 instead of where it should be (Rock Band) and we can't buy it alone?
This is fucking unacceptable.
Kriegs @ Dec 14th 2007 9:10PM
I couldn't agree more! WTF!
Kyera @ Dec 14th 2007 9:15PM
The reason is because the people that made these decisions are outsmarted by the typical Quake II enemy.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Dec 14th 2007 9:20PM

Trickob @ Dec 14th 2007 9:46PM
indeed
AndrewNeo @ Dec 14th 2007 11:01PM
I don't want Lincoln Park either!
I want Linkin Park available separately.
carterman @ Dec 15th 2007 5:36AM
Agreed, Mastodon would be insane on Rock Band. Also, they should have done Capillarian Crest, although that would probably be the hardest song on any GH/RB game yet. Hell, just put up the whole Blood Mountain and/or Leviathan albums and be done with it.
Of course, I ended up losing my copy of GH3 recently with no plans to re-buy it, so I'm not missing much.
jynxycat @ Dec 15th 2007 11:27AM
Mastodon shoved together with LP and The Used is god damn sin.
They have more talent in their left toes than both bands combined.
This is where I love Rock Band's single song approach.
JonFitt @ Dec 15th 2007 11:29AM
Meh.
[.sm0ke.] @ Dec 15th 2007 1:55PM
I kinda-sorta like Linkin Park, but they're not Guitar Hero-worthy. Not technical enough. They'd be a better fit for an early set in Rock Band, since the songs tend to be more popular than challenging.
tyetheczar @ Dec 15th 2007 8:30PM
And WHERE's My God Knows... track, oy?! And stuff from Paramore, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and L'arc~en~Ciel, and X-Japan?! TELL ME! WHEN! And don't flame me. Or I'll "force" you to click on links to the songs.
